12.7x99mm "KS 43"

Kelly Springfield, Allegany Ordnance Plant in Cumberland, Maryland made ammo in 1942 and 1943, kind of like Lowell. Does it mean that “KS” headstamp is un-common (like Lowell)?

A subjective determination, but yes, more so than LC, DM, TW, etc, but not as rare as, say LM.

I don’t know the reason, but boxes are quite rare. Maybe most of their production was packed by other facilities to assemble functional lots, but these are rare as well.
