…Long and Short. Hi everybody! I was wondering if the long version of the 12mm pinfire (Longue Portee) was strictly for rifles, or if they were used in revolvers, also. The chambers on my Dresse Laloux revolver are made in a way that make it appear as if they were for the long cartridges, with a pronounced step, or throat. Thank you!
the length of the pin is a good measure as to the firearm it was made for, not always so, but a starting point.
Longue Portee just means Long Range. They basically just had a little more powder in them.
This probably made it a good cartridge for use in rifles, but was not exclusive.
