1912, 8 Inch Projectile Carrying Torpedo - DAVIS TORPEDO

#1

I have been collecting inert torpedo artifacts for years now and I do not remember learning about this unique torpedo design. Apparently, around 1912, a new torpedo was invented that was called the Davis Torpedo after its inventor, Commander Davis, U.S.N. I found this ad for sale on EBAY and found it fascinating. Commander Davis, seemed to have installed a 8 inch gun system inside the torpedoes hull that when triggered upon impact with the targets hull fires a 35 to 45 pound HE projectile at 1600 fps.
