20 x 110 USN Maker's initials

#1

I have a 20 x 110 USN Cannon round. The headstamp is:

RNO - 9 - 64 - 20MM - MK5 - MOD.0 -

Does anyone know who made this case?

The projectile driving band is also marked “20MM MK 11 MOD 1 - C - 02 - GLN 01-73”. Does anyone know who made it?

As the dates are so far apart I am pretty sure this round was assembled from separate components.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi, this should help:

RNO - Amron Corp., Waukesha (WI)
GLN - Galion Amco Inc., Galion (OH)

Thanks for that. I should have remembered as I had that Amron experimental 23mm case that I asked about on here not long ago. That had the “RNO” marking on it as well.

  • I have a fired 20X110 USN shell case made of steel with electric primer. The impressed headstamp markings are: “MS 6 54” over “20MM - MK.5 MOD O” I assume the shell case maker’s mark is “MS”. Anyone who knows the meaning of the “MS” mark ??? Thanks in advance, Liviu 07/04/10
