Hi Jack,

In my collection I have two of these cartridges, one with exactly the same
bullet and one with the same bullet, but lead rim inside the hollow point
is a bit different. I can’t see any reloading marks on either of the cartridges,
so I presume they are OK.

The bullet in your cartridges looks like either the 110 grain Hi-Speed Mushroom bullet (Remington Ammo Index Number 6230) or the 220 grain Express Mushroom (Remington Ammo Index Number 5630). The total weight of the cartridge should identify which one it is for you.

I think it is the 110 grain version

from left to right

Headstamp Cartridge weight
REM-UMC 30-06 470 grain
REM-UMC 1906 365 grain
REM-UMC 30-06 365 grain

of the 365 Grain versions
on the left is HS: REM-UMC 30-06
on the right is HS: REM-UMC 1906

cheers

Rene - I agree with you. I couldn’t tell from the picture because I don’t collect .30-06, and had no reference to the overall cartridge length between the two of them. Thanks for bailing me out on that issue.

Thanks for the info on this cartridge. Would this have been Remingtons first commercial headstamp for a 30-06?
