.30 Carbine spitzer load

#1

I have a .30 carbine case, of grey steel appearance but non-magnetic, headstamp R A 5 4 (characters equidistant, at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock), loaded with a copper-coloured, magnetic spitzer bullet to an overall length of 2.0 inches (51 mm).

Can anyone tell me anything about this please?

Tony, your’s has a tinned case (for marking) and is a HPT load (hence the 30-06 projectile).

Many thanks - that was quick!

Just accidentally…

I think we had a thread on the various versions of these here before.

At least 3 different variations. Brass case w/M2 GM bullet. Tinned case w/M2 GM bullet. Tinned case w/M2 GMCS bullet.
