303 Brit - Commercial or Military

#1

I’m going thru some of my cigar boxes sorting stuff out. A lot of 303 British military rounds from wwII. But, I also noticed some that appear to be military but with a soft point bullet. For example:

HS - R^L 1938 W I
Crimped primer with possible traces of a green seal??
Round nose cannelured bullet with 3 stab crimps (in another cannelure??)

Commercial?
Military?
Reload?
What?

The WI in the headstamp indicates an Armour Peircing round so if your round is soft point I’d say it was a reload. As an AP round it would have a green annulus.

Armourer

I’m sure that’s it. The fact that the bullet has a cannelure at the case mouth but also has the 3 stab crimps in addition made me suspicious.

Thanks.

As the three stab crimps were quite deep, they still show up even if the original bullet was taken out.
