45 Schofield with UMC slf lube bullet

Just picked up a 45 Schofield with a UMC self lube bullet. Has no head stamp but a typical UMC head. Did not realize UMC started the self lube bullets that early. What’s the timeline on them?
Gourd

Gourd, according to the authoritative sounding author of the penultimate post in a previous thread on this topic, viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14194, the original patent was dated June 13, 1893. I don’t know in what order various calibers first came out. The 1896 UMC catalog illustrates the 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, 38 S&W and 44 S&W Russian. Only the 32 S&W Long is listed in the 1899 catalog.
Rich

Hey Gordo, I bet you’ve never been called authoritative before. ;-)

Rich, I had to look up the definition of penultimate. I admit that it doesn’t mean what I thought it did. I like it. I’m going to start using it.
