455 Tracer?

#1

Is this a 455 tracer, or must the headstamp include a “K”?

No, that is a regular Fiocchi .455 commercial load by the look of it.

The experimental .455 inch tracer sub-calibre for the 3.5 inch Rocket Launcher had a “KYNOCH 455” headstamp and was identified by a heavy ring primer crimp.

Why did you think it was a tracer?

I guess for a tracer because of black bullet, but I can’t remember from where I have this idea.

It’s a teflon coated lead bullet

OOHHH, do you have a picture of such a round Tony?

Thanks,

I have both the round and the factory drawing.

I will photograph and post shortly.

Here are the pictures as promised.

My memory was playing tricks on me (age). The primer crimp is a heavy ring crimp, not a six segment as I first stated. I have edited my original post.

Here is the round.

…and here is the drawing.
