.499 Leitner & Wise or .50 Beowulf

I recently picked up three different loadings, 2 HP’s and 1 FMJ, bearing the headstamp
.499 LWR.

All three of these came from Alexander Arms LLC. factory boxes that were labeled for the .50 Beowulf.

Doing a web search, I can find info stating that the two rounds are similar… but are they.

Can anyone provide a bit of data as to what is correct.

499 LW :

rim diam : .423"
base diam : .528"
mouth diam : .528"
case length : 1.748"

50 Beowulf :

rim diam : .423"
base diam : .539"
mouth diam : .527"
case length : 1.661"

both are loaded with the same bullet diam : .499" - .500"

There is an AP version of the .499 LW with the designation 29-L5AP. It was 280gr and had a steel core.
