5,45x39 BRASS CASE PPU 1988

#1

This where only produced unloaded, and only specially made for my old (deceased) friend Horst Grillmayer , who developped a lot of cartridges (.460 Steyr, 416 TYR, 9mm Major) and played ones around with the 5,45…
As he had good friends in the PPU factory, they made him 1000 cases.
I do not knew, if the bullets in the pic (which he gave to me in 1989 on the IWA Show) where also made by PPU.
But he used a lot of different bullets for his ballistic tests…
Horst was a good ammo Artist, but unfortunatelly for him, not a good “seller” and Business man. For him, only the work and his “childs” (the new ammo) counted…
Here the pics from this cases unprimed and some bullets.
There are some out with primers seated…and some Dummy-Loads (with empty primer pockets) but I have not found any loaded round…

Bullets exists with fmj and as Hollowpoint…all of them have bases with a conical opening

Peter, are the bullets maybe the same as on the RWS headstamped loades made by Königswartha/Lübben after the so-called reunion?

#3

The bases are the same on the fmj and the HP-ones…
As Lübben has not made fmj-ones in the .215 series, I dought it…
I will “kill” a .215 HP one, and check the base…
But that takes a few days…

No hurry at all, take your time!

The bullets from .215 RWS are totally different from the shown ones.
The RWS ones have a closed fmj base and no coned bases showing the lead or other fillers…

Maybe russian ones or yougoslavian ones made for him…
