There are two new downloads available at DTIC. The first is the 1963 USAF report that led to the decision to change the M16’s rate of twist. The second is a British report from 1964 comparing the wound ballistics of the L1A1 (FN FAL) to the AR-15. The two reports disagree as to the effect on lethality from changing the rate of twist. The British report also found that Norma ammunition was more effective than Remington’s.
