.50 Browning exp. WWII


Two days ago, a friend of mine, found this fired bullet .50 cal. on Peter Beach near Anzio.
For what I knew this is a API experimental.
The area was a British troops landing zone.

This should be a “T-16” Armor Piercing Incendiary projectile. Not exactly experimental, as about 3,000,000 rounds were produced between May and October of 1943 for service board and combat testing. It was standardized in October, 1943 as the “M-8”. No doubt yours was fired during the “combat tests”.
