7.5x54 French question

I have 2 questions about a very smartly made French-Belgian-Algerian-Maroc co-production film called “Indigènes” imdb.com/title/tt0444182/ about French colonial troops from North Africa fighting in WWII Europe.

  1. The troops are armed with mostly MAS-36 rifles. Where were the rifles and 7.5x54 ammunition made if France was under occupation?
  2. The movie shows French colonial troops fighting in Italy. Is this historically correct?

Vlad,

The answer to your #2 question is “yes”. For example troops from Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. They were called “goumies” ( from Goum= little operation groups, specialized in high mountain warfare)

Bad memories for hundreds of italian women, men and children
