I picked up a 7.5x54 MAS at SLICS and the headstamp in SF 51 I 4 which I am assuming is made by Soci

This cartridge has a black primer annulus and black sealant ring around the bullet above the case mouth. Does anybody know if this is a ball round??

Is this just plain sealant on this case or does the sealant and/or color have any meaning as to the function of the cartridge?

ordinary bullet
the sealant can be any color and no significance

Hi ,
When you find a 7.5 Mas with not colored tip and either a copper or a cupro nickel jacket it is an ordinary bullet.

The only ctge you have to be carefull is when you have a copper jacket and a pre WWII hstp. It is an Armor piercing ctge.
