7.62mm NATO M80 Type

Thought I’d put this up again to see if anyone has an idea:

Had this one for a while with a question mark but, perhaps this would be an example of the “supersoft steel jacket” experimental without plating as described in HWS3 on page 180? Headstamp is (+) FA 68. There is no sign of oxidation on the projectile so one wonders if this is a material other than steel or perhaps it was treated in some way (as in what is “Vydax 550” used to coat the copper plated types?). Magnetic signature is similar to a common GMCS M80 bullet.

Is there any other possible designation / ID for this item without the GM cladding?
