7.65x53mm Mauser?

#1

I was wondering if anyone can help with this round? I’m guessing it is 7.65x53mm Mauser ??? made by Société Française des Munitions, Place Jules Gévelot, 92310 Issy-Les-Moulineaux,France. 1913.

Can any one tell me if was it made for the Belgians?

case length 53.26mm
base Dia 12.06mm
dia of projectile 7.9mm
Over all length 76mm

Many thanks

Yes, this cartridge is for the 7.65 m/m Mauser rifle and is a product of SFM, but it was likely made for a South American contract, probably Peru. I believe the version used by Belgium at this time and for years later was the original round-nosed bullet type. Jack

Jack,

Many thanks, I found the following on Wikipedia;

So I suppose the French supplied arms as well as the military guidance.

Yes, Peru also bought Hotchkiss MGs before WW I, and of course between WW I and II…the Germans had supplied some MGs before WW I, but afterwards were “cut out” of the market.
