Case lot 47 in 1944 seems not impossible.

For some reason wg changed the configuration on the headstamps from lot 38 to lot 47 0f 1944. These have been reported:

wg –St+ 37 44
wg –St+ 44 38
wg 44 38 -St+
wg –St+ 44 39
wg 44 39 -St+
wg –St+ 44 40
wg 44 40-St+
wg –St+ 44 42
wg 44 42 -St+
wg –St+ 44 43
wg –St+ 44 44
wg 44 44 –St+
wg –St+ 45 44
wg –St+ 46 44
wg –St+ 44 47

Would it be possible they operated a second case production line, or had cases contracted, …?

The chaotic head stamp is starting with the 38th lot
The first lot of 1945 was made again at German regulations.
There are about 100 lots known were they made some kind of mistakes.
Not count is a company like “fer” who found out by the 8th lot of 1944 that the steel case must have a St+ instead a St*

Makes cartridge collecting interesting -:)

INTERESTING INDEED !

The German 7.9 is the most interesting series of all. More variations in load and markings than any other caliber.
