77x229R mm Krupp German 1917 artillery shell

It has approximate dimensions of 77x227mm and looks Dutch to me. What is it?

#2

Why Dutch? And how should they have made something in 1917?
This is a German 77mm field gun case.

Sorry, Alex, I found some tulips inside and got mislead :). What is HL?

#4

HL should be for “Hauptlaboratorium”, something like “main loading station”.

I sent a link to this thread to a friend who is specialized in German pre 1919 artillery ammunition. Let’s see if he will help us.

Ok, I got the info that the “Hauptlaboratorium” was located in Ingolstadt (Bavaria).
