Martignoni S.p.a. Cartucce e Munizioni at Génnes Italy

Thanks for the web site, good headstamp ID.
The photo is dark but the same as mine. Thanks. Ron.

Does anyone have a picture of the box of this cartridge? I’m aware that several publications identify the manufacturer as Martignoni of Genova -not Génnes-, but I have never seen any documentation establishing a connection with this Italian company. I have my own thoughts about the manufacturer, but first I would like to know what others know about this subject.

I don’t think there even is/was a Génnes, Italy

I believe the manufacturer is Colombo & Micheloni, Lecco, Italy.

This company was established in 1864 at Milano, Italy and was dedicated to the manufacture of sporting guns. By 1871, this company was speciallized in the manufacture of pinfire cartridges for revolvers and shotguns (factory set up at Lecco). In 1872 they changed its name to Micheloni & C. (known for the manufacture of 10.4x47R Vetterli cartridges). In 1876 the company was purchased by Giulio Fiocchi.

Fede
