Ammo shortage in the USA

For anyone thinking that ammo shortage is only in his place and there is plenty of it around somewhere else, here are baren shelves of Walmart in Kissimmee, Florida. Don’t complain, this shot could be from anywhere in the country.

Note the Wrist-Rocket Slingshots there in the upper right. Let me tell ya, they’ll leave a mark!
A last ditch sorta thing, but more firepower than one might think. Marbles make for some primo ammo.

While I am not in the habit of buying ammo at WalMart, I hear the shelves at our WalMarts here in Tallahassee have no ammo at all; they apparently made the decision some time ago to stop selling it. I would imagine this is a trend that will be visiting a WalMart near most of you in the not too distant future.

Tell me about it. I have a Barnett Black Widow. Astonishingly, they are still legal in the Socialist Republic of the European Union. I also have an unlimited supply of worn out ball and roller bearings from work. For direct fire, 12mm ball bearings are lethal, they will shred tin cans. Roller bearings would be ideal for firing up in an arc for indirect fire. I would think that 10 people armed with these slingshots firing fast volleys of roller bearings above a crowd 10 times their size could seriously swing the odds in their favour. A situation that is unlikely ever to happen but at least it’s one very cheap weapon that the antis don’t seem to have paid much attention to. Are they illegal in CA?

I am even more amazed that crossbows are still legal over here but you can go to jail for possesion of a barbed arrow head.

The shortage is not in ammunition, rather it is a shortage of reasonably priced ammunition. Here in my small city, Walmart shelves look like that in the picture. It’s not that they don’t get any ammunition deliveries, it is just purchased as soon as it comes in. The other big sporting goods retailer here is “Dick’s Sporting Goods”. They have tons of ammunition. Stacks of boxes and full shelves overflowing of everything you could want. But, their prices are 50% or more higher than Walmart. Guess where people are buying thier ammo? Gun shows and gun shops? Plenty of ammo, but prices near what I would call “rape”… In this economy, people have to get the most “bang for their buck” (pun intended) and they buy where the best price is. That is why Walmart shelves are empty…

And used to, you’d get a box or two for a hoped for shootin’ fest. Now, everybody buys a CASE or two. For the politics in it. The fear of future restrictions is probably not all that unfounded. That Change Thang, doncha know.
