Arab box of 22 long rifle

manufactured by RWS for Iran ?? … 04096.html

The red RWS box label is very similar in color and format to those boxes for the DWM Persian contract 9 x 17 mm Court and 9 x 19 mm Parabellum made in the late 1930s.

If Iran, then technically the labeling is in Farsi, not Arabic. The two use essentially the same alphabet, and are similar in much the same way English is similar to German or French.

Actually, other than alphabet and a considerable amount of shared vocabulary, Persian and Arabic have only a remote linguistic kinship. Persian is one of the Indo-European languages, and is a distant cousin of English and most of the languages of Europe. Jack
