I have 45 Auto Guard Dog cartridges by Federal and they have “F” stamped on the nose of the bullet. However the bullets are either Nickle plated or Chrome plated.
So question #1 is:
Are these 40 S&W cartridges Federal Guard Dog loads even though they do not have Chrome plated bullets?
Question #2 is: What is the significants of the lower case “f” vs the upper case “F”?
Thanks
Zac
Hi Zac,
Those are EFMJ loads. They changed from lower case to upper case when they modified the shape of the bullet.

Fede,
thank you.
Zac
The Guard Dogs all have the nickeled projectile and blue inner rubber, whereas the earlier EFMJ had the copper jacket and a gray inner rubber frontal portion.
DK,
Do the blue and gray have the different font? (F and f)
Thanks, Dan
