Argentine 20 mm Oerlikon variations:

From left to right: armor piercing/tracer (green), explosive/tracer/self-destruct (yellow), explosive/self-destruct (red), blank and practice/tracer (black).

NICE!

hello
for the green shell is look like more as APHE shell

#4

What is that “projectile” in the blank, number 4, cartridge. Is it wrapped in brown paper, I can’t work it out?

The blank projectile is made of plaster covered with cardboard.

Ammogun, the green projectile is actually an armor-piercing explosive tracer type, but for some reason the Argentine official designation doesn’t include the word “explosive”.

Thanks Fede,

I have not seen that type of “break-up” shot for 20mm before, very interesting. The UK 20mm Oerlikon blank was a bakelite case filled with fine lead shot, like a scaled-down version of the 40/60 Bofors break-up.

Gravebilly, a later model of this same round included lead shot.

Javi, this picture was taken at the Colegio Militar.
