Artillery M739 fuse box

#1

Would anyone have a photo of this fuse and maybe the whole round?

The M739 is a pretty common fuze, used on 105mm, 155mm and 8 inch projectiles.
The can had a plastic tray in the bottom with eight depressions in it and the fuzes fit into the depressions for safety in transit.

Here is a link to a page with photo:

Vlad

Here’s a little more info on the fuzes. While this details the M557, the M739 is an ungraded version of the same thing. Apparently, there were issues with firing in the rain and the 557 had a tendency to go bang on the way to the target. The M739 “fixed” the problem, as it was.

Thank you both, good info.

Does the can still contain the fuze “tray”?

No.
