D&D Omega "Star" premium pistol ammo

#1

I hate to loose an auction for such a great rare lot of specialty pistol ammo, but it got too rich for my blood. Somebody will make a good home for these, whoever A*****1 is: http://v2.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=171737085 Anybody see much or have much of this stuff? The info sheet in that auction is probably the most rare item?

OK, I searched for “Omega ammo” and came up with zilch. I am ready for a good story, why and how this ammo exist(ed).

It was around 1994 when Rick Dixon of D&D Bullets started producing “Omega” ammo in various calibers, which was loaded into Starline brass at least some of the time. It was sort of like a Winchester Ranger / Extremeshock Fangface looking projectile, which apparently would fragment into 3 pieces at the base, and also had shot in the core (I’ve heard both that it did and did not fragment and that it did and did not have shot core, so I really wanted to get a hold of a couple to dissect and find out). I figured John and Lew would appreciate a couple of these packages as well. I emailed the seller and hope to get some better image scans of the package (might have a website that I can search on Internet archive), and also a copy of that info sheet. There’s a small write up on the ammo here in a SARA bulletin: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=no&u=http://www.patroner.no/sara/bull100.pdf&ei=alsMTMbQJoG8lQf1_aDcDg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=2ved=0CBoQ7gEwAQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3DD%2526D%2Bomega%2B%2522rick%2Bdixon%2522%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DMWn%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official (Search for the word “Dixon” on the page to find the article easily)

Haven’t been checking Gunbroker recently. Sorry I missed this. I don’t have one of these in the collection!

Thanks for posting this DK. Something else to look for.

Here are a couple better images that the seller sent me, and based on the description and image, it is just a sawtooth hollow point with some coreshot:
