In the movie “The Quiet American” youtube.com/watch?v=GXTXGfMFxR4, a name “diolacton” is used as a part of plastic explosives. Does diolacton actually exist?
Vlad, it seems this is a made up name for the movie.
- A web search did not bring anything to light
- “Explosives” (Meyer, 2006 edition) - a bible in the business on explosives does not use this word in it’s 433 pages.
English version 2262 page Webster’s International Dictionary has nothing even close. Web search = fictional word made up for the Movie.
“A fictional ingredient in making plastic explosives. When asked about the compound, the American supplier claims, Diolacton is a milk-based plastic. We use it in making the frames for eyeglasses.”
