East German 7.62x39

East German 7.62x39; headstamp: 04 88. I shoot a lot of AK and SKS and have not seen a bullet like this. Why did East Germans move away from pointed projectile and did anyone else (Poles, Bulgarians etc) use this bullet shape?

It’s plastic core short range ammo.

Ditto; steel-jacketed, but with a very lightweight plastic core, to reduce the danger area and backstop material needed.

and the tracer version is laquered all translucent green.
