What did the ammo look like for this gun?
Not sure why it is new but the first developments on this were done in Germany in WW2.
It’s definitely not new tech, but new to me for sure. I was curious about the ammunition for that 60mm revolver CIWS gun that was tested in the late80/early90’s.
At one point, they were experimenting with a, ETC, primer, for the US 120mm M829A2 APFSDS-T tank round.
Yup, see that in the XM291 stuff. That was all separate loading and kind of stalled development? Something about 140mm and 120mm interchangeable barrels/ammo.

I have seen the large steel aft caps for these along with 2 types of flat-nosed testing projectiles but I haven’t been able to find a picture of the complete cartridge before.
