Eley Bros .303 sporting using military cases

This is a box of ten .303 with split jacket bullets with a flat tip that exposes the lead core, in military cases headstamped E C II. The cartridge illustrated on the label has the same military headstamp, although the E and C are not oriented correctly.

I assume these were loaded by Eley using either cases that were produced above the number that were needed for military production or that perhaps did not meet military standards.

This is very common in the UK, they just used up surplus military cases, I have found Eley, Kynoch & Kings Norton Military cases with Commercial bullets in them.
