Hi Jean-Peirre.

Can you post a picture of the headstamp? I am not familiar with this one. Unknown headstamps in Floberts keep turning up occassionally. Is your round a ball or shot? If it’s a shot round, please post a photo of the tube.

Cheers,
Will.

Hello Will,
it seems Flobert ctges are interesting only us !

Nevermind, have you made a listing of all the MANUFACTURERS of Flobert ctges ?
I don’t think there are so many manufacturers.
At first glance, without digging in my files, I count up to 25:
Allendorff
Barnier Albert
Braun & Bloem
Cartoucherie Francaise
DWM
G. Egerstorff
Eley
Fiocchi
FN
Francotte,May & Cie
Gaupillat
G. Genschow
Hirtenberger
Hosterey
Kynoch
Leon Beaux
Lignose
MGM
Munitions Werke
Orbea
Rey Freres
REM-UMC
RWS
Sellier Bellot
SFM
Winchester

Therefore , if we add about 5, it makes 30. 3( maximum.
What do you think ?

Hi JP

Here are a few more. Some will be the same companies but with different names, and some will be made by others (SFM, Eley, etc) which if I was not sure, I marked with a question mark. There are many other headstamps where I don’t know the maker (too many to think about) plus many unheadstamped rounds where the makers are unknown.

Akela (Belgium)
Ammunition Arsenal at Copenhagen
H. Alard, Mastrecht (probably SFM) ?
Man. d’Armes de St. Etienne (MGM??)
Cartouche Belge
Dryse & Collenbusch
DeGiacomi & Hijo, South America ?
Explosives D’Havre
Lindener Thowwarin und Zundhutche Fabrik (George Egestorff?)
Firearms Import Export Co, England (Eley?)
Gaupillat & DeLion (GD headstamp)
Badische Sprekasel-Zundhutchen und Munition, Durlach
Keller & Co
Lapua
Italian Arsenal (LPB)?
Marignolni Muzizioni Catucce, Italy
Deutches Munitionsfabrik, Max Walbinger
Werke Scholbeck a Elbe
Eidg. Munitinsfabrik, Thun
Nicholas Von Dryse (?)
Paulo Balindo, Italy (?)
Society Anonyme Ded Cartouches, Belgium
Etablts Sousy, France (?)
Speafico, South American
Serafina Keller (later Keller & Co)
Sorzato Hermanos & Cia LTDA, South America (?)
J. Stahle, Switzerland
Tardy Frere, Paris (6.5mm?) ?
Utenderfer
Esponal de Explosives, Madrid
Pobeda
Walbiner, Meuschel & Co (Bischweiller) ?
Wollersdorfer Werke
Casa Carlos Rasetti, South America (?)
Sussex Armoury, England (Eley?) ?
National Arms & Ammunition Co. Ltd (Attributed to)
Banyagtectacgyar N.V.
Cartouche Russo-Belge
Piloni Bernard, Lecco, Italy (?)
Nouvelle Cart. de Survilliers

Please forgive my spelling on some of them. These are from my notes which are pretty rough. I anticipate many people who know more than I to critisize the listing. There were more makers. They were known to have been made in Russia, Greece and I suspect Turkey too.

Anyone who had machinery to make percussion caps could alter them to make Flobert rimfires and VISA VERSA! Many companies purchased machinery to manufacture cartridges on a small basis. Also, the time frame that they were produced would indicate that they were made in large volumes and by many, many manufacturers with many headstamps and shot tube colours and designs.

The calibres that I associate with Floberts or firearms which use ammunition similar to Floberts are as follows:

2.5mm
3mm short
3mm long
4mm short
4mm long
5mm
6mm
6.5mm
7mm
8mm
9mm
10mm
11mm

This does not mean that they all were Floberts! However, they have caracterisics of Floberts and so have been lumped together as such.

Cheers,
Will.
