I was digging in my garden today and found a rifle cartridge. It measures about 2.5" long and about 15/32" in diameter. On the base of the cartridge, it is stamped with the following: 4 2 T W. Each number/letter are evenly spaced around the base. Any ideas? I have pictures I can send if you provide an email address. Thanks.
Sounds like a .30-06 Springfield made by Twin Cities aresenal in 1942. This is a very common cartridge from WW-II
It would be interesting to know where it was found - not asking for your address, just the general locality. Just wondering if it a war relic, or just something a former owner of your house might have tossed away.
