German 9mm WWII sintered Iron, or something else?
The black color of the bullet marks it as “08 mE” (mit Eisenkern). Most of the lead core is replaced by a mushroom-shaped core of non-hardened steel (Eisen is German for iron) for the purpose of saving lead. Jacket shape is identical to lead core bullets.
Sintereisen (08 SE) do not have a jacket and look dull or even porous.
Here two pictures of German 9mm of 1943 and 1945, illustrating the different look. The “forty-fiver” on the right, is from “Sintereisen”. You can see a clear difference of structure of the two bullets.
