H. Utendoerffer 7x57R box

#1

Can anyone date this box and interpret the information stamped on box side.
I cant read the over-label that lists the number of cartridges in box. Based on the inside dividers, this was most likely a 20 round box.
Thank you in advance.
Bob R.

Tentative answer:
Y = 1929
62 = 22 nd
M = December
The list I have starts in 1931 with A, so 1929 is a bit of a guess. The next occurrence of Y would have been 1954, but after 1945 the format was 62MY. Apart from that the label layout is out of the question for 1954. The rubber stamped “Rostfrei” also points to a time around 1930, when chlorate-free primers still were something special.

The list I have starts in 1906 (A) and your guess is correct:

             YEAR                  DAY                         MONTH

A 1906 1931 1956 41 = 1 K = January
B 1907 1932 1957 42 = 2 L = February
C 1908 1933 1958 43 = 3 M = March
D 1909 1934 1959 44 = 4 N = April
E 1910 1935 1960 45 = 5 O = May
F 1911 1936 1961 46 = 6 P = June

Although my “M” would indicate March ??

Sorry, my error. Months start with K, and M is indeed March. Somehow the NATO month codes creeped in.
