Headstamp: P S* 196 34

In my collection I have a 7.92 x 57 Mauser cartridge with the next markings:
Headstamp: P S* 196 34
Magnetic tombac colour bullet
No annuluscolour, no bullet or other colours.

According to the list of Willem van Eijk and Karl Menzel this code (P at twelve o’clock and 196 at six o’clock) is only 'nur H

That means, the lot number is only known as an empty case.

If a collector tells he have this lot number for example as an sS cartridge in his collection, it will be changed.

You round is probably an sS round. You can check it by weighting the round.

It must be over 400 grains.

I will Dutch!
