Hirtenberg?

Hello,

I think this .320 was made by Hirtenberg.

This is the first time I see “Wien” on a head stamp.
Did they have a plant there?

Yes this is Hirtenberger from the early late 1890’s to early 1900’s I believe. I have also seen .380 in this same style.

Dutch,

They did have a presence there. Wein was where their registered commercial office was. Any of their headstamps that say WIEN on them will also have one of the manufacturing marks such as H (which yours has) or one of their eagle marks, or K or P, etc.

Your H mark on the cartridge means it was made between 1905 to ~1960.

This info is from the book they published a couple years ago, Hirtenberger AG - The First 150 Years. It is freely available here: http://www.hirtenberger.at/media/pub/HP_Festschrift_Web.pdf. Look on page 149, section 6.1.2.
