Hornady Lot Numbers 2004-2010

#1

Checking the lot numbers on my Hornady boxes, and Hornady lot numbers on the Internet, I think the year of manufacture (at least 2004-present) is incorporated in the lot number; but not the month or day, just a one-up four-digit lot number within that year beginning with 0001 up to at least 2057 (observed). Further, bullet lots begin with 2 and ammo lots begin with 3 since 2004.
Bullet lots observed:
02-188 (7.62x39/123)
2040882 (8mm/150)
2050004 (.454 round ball)
2060172 (7mm/154)
Ammo lots observed:
020219 (9mm/124)
030271 (500 S&W)
030493 (454)
3040197 (44 Mag)
3050003 (454)
3050050 (500 S&W)
3060041 (500 S&W)
3060134 (30-30, recalled lot, shipped from Mar 29 06 to Apr 7 06)
3060156 (223)
3060360 (308)
3080075 (44 Mag)
3080350 (357 Mag)
3080547 (223)
3080611 (223)
3081359 (357 Mag)
3081378 (30.06?)
3081381 (50 AE)
3081533 (45 Colt)
3082057 (416 Ruger)
3090203 (38 SPL)
3090679 (9mm)
3090706 (7.62x39)
3090734 (30.06?)
3090850 (9mm)
3090863 (9mm)
3090864 (7.62x39)
3091143 (30.06?)
3091174 (38 +P)
3091204 (223)
3091299 (308)
3091300 (308)
3091641 (357 Mag)
3100022 (204 Ruger)
3100131 (204 Ruger)
3100168 (223)
3100204 (308)
3100292 (380 Auto)
3100508 (308)
Beginning in 2004, when the first digit is a 2 the lot is bullets, if 3 it is ammo. The next two digits are the year 04-10/2004-2010. Lots beginning with 02 or 03 probably are 2002 and 2003. No month or day incorporated into the lot number. The actual lot is the final four digits, lower numbers are earlier in the year.
