I.D. help ...what do I have here?-MARBLE Auxiliary Cartridg

#1

What do I have here !! looks like a .22 LR plug-in cartridge but for what?

#2

I’M NOT AN AUTHORITY ON ENGLISH MANUFACTURED AUXILIARY CHAMBERS! THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE IT IS FOR A .22 SAVAGE HP. NOW I HAVE TO WONDER IF ELEY MANUFACTURED THEM FOR THE CALIBER .30 ARMY (30-40 KRAG). CONGRATULATIONS ON FINDING SUCH A FINE SPECIMEN!!!

It’s a US made Marble’s adapter & agree it looks like it’s for the .22 Savage High-Power cartridge.

It should be stamped “MARBLE” It’s correctly called an Auxiliary Cartridge.

Mine is stamped MARBLE’S - U.S.A. No 161. It is one of the harder to find Auxiliary Cartridges. I looked for one for years and when I finally found one, it was lost (stolen) in the mail. :-( Another year of searching and I found another one

Marble apparently made a wide variety of auxiliary cartridges in at least three designs and also also a wide range of broken case extractors. A few are illustrated below.

Was MSA Co. of Gladstone Mich a outgrowth of Marble. Their items look very much the same!

All the items pictured are marked MARBLE.
