Italian blank made in the US?

The enclosed pictures are ofcourse of a kind of blank.
The caselenght ~51 mm and the ‘bullet’ end 6,3, could indicate an
6,5x52 Italian Mannlicher. However I cannot see why Lake City Armories should make
such a blank? Alternative explanations will be highly appreciated !

We can exclude this theory I think as these are standard M82 blanks in 7.62x51.

Since it is a blank and not star crimped a smaller diameter of the extended section sure aided feeding.
And technically a full diameter of the extended section is not required.
This design principle is also observed on other US made blanks (at least in 7.62x39).

That figures! Thank you.
