Jap machine gun ammo storage box repair

#1

I have what I believe to be Japanese HMG Model 92 metalic feeding strip. I may be wrong about the model. It was sold to me with a storage container the smaller “cap” part of which is falling apart. It is basically cardboard held together by a glued-on cloth-like material. If I wanted to put this “cloth” back, which type of glue should I use?

Considering the cardboard and cloth construction, I’d go with Elmers white glue. It dries clear and any excess can be wiped off, before it dries, with a damp cloth.

It is indeed a strip for the Type 92 MG in 7.7 x 58SRmm calibre, this was a Hotchkiss design.
