I am looking for a date on the following spam can. Would anyone happen to know what plant E.C. is and when this can was made? Should be a WW2 produced can as it came from France, but I’m not 100% certain. Thanks in advance!

It was made by Evansville Ordnance Plant in 1944; brass case lot.

Such Spamcans were Repacks from Wooden Crated Ammo as originally deliveredby Factory.
EC Evansville Chrysler, and ECS, Evansvilke Chrysler - Sunbeam…over 1 billion rounds of Steelcase .45ACP produced durin WWII…repacking done late 45, Post-War.
Also used for .30 Carbine and Cal 30 M2. PACKETS OR CLIPPED BANDOS.

DocAV, that information is not correct, this is not a repack. It was packed this way at the factory during 1944. No more manufacturing or repacking was done at this plant during 1945 or after the war.

For future reference, here’s a can that appears to pre-date mine by a few hundred lots. It’s clearly dated May 1944.

This .45 Ball M1911 lot number dates from 1943, while May 1944 is the repacking date.
