Maynard 50 cal M65 & thanks

#1

Can anyone give me a run down of the difference between the the 50/50 M65 and the 50 cal M65. Looked at a few reference books and can’t find anything.

I would also like to say that I’m only just back into collecting for the last two months and the help offered by the IAA and indeed the general collecting community has been above and beyond all expectations. Makes it a real pleasure to deal with all you wonderful people. Keep it up…it can only help the IAA going forward.

Cheers

Ken

I believe there is just one .50 Maynard M65, which was loaded with 50 grains of powder, hence the .50-50 designation. There were variations of the case construction, but the loads were the same. Here’s a picture of one with a Poultney’s patent rolled brass and paper case and one with the more common soldered brass case.

Thanks Guy. The logical answers always make sense.
