Origin and date of 22 rimfire shot shells

Can anyone tell me about origin and date of the .22 rimfire shot shell in the US? Where .22 rimfire shot shells in common use prior to 1900? Thanks

The earliest listing by the United States Cartridge Company that I can find is 1910. I don’t know about any other company.

The earliest I have found is a “22 Long Rim Fire” listed by E. Remington & Sons in 1887. There is also a “22 calibre long” (chilled shot, extended case) offered by AMC in January 1889. It is followed by a “22/50 Long” (dust shot, .22 Short case with extended wood sabot, Hartley & Hobbs 1889 patent) offered by UMC in June 1890.
