I was going to post a response to Mel’s “Birthday cartridge” thread asking about these two cartridges. But not wanting to hi-jack Mel’s great thread I decided to post a separate thread.
I recently acquired 2 different .50 Sharps cases. One is headstamped “OTTO WITT SPL” and the second “TONY SAILER 50 SH”. Any info anyone might have on them would be appreciated.

The one for Otto was made by BELL & a man named D.P. Wirth made the bunters for them. Most were made in small lot of perhaps only 20 examples. Otto was also the main connection to Jim Bell & Wirth in getting these done.

I should have done that to start with. Here you go Pete. These are both .50 Sharps cases. 
The company till exists, and makes ,of course, ski-clothing…
He died in 2009…RIP, .if he is/was related to that cartridge, I do not knew…
If he was a hunter, it maybe the case…at least, he had enough money, to order his own cartridges…

I doubt that Toni Sailer was related to that cartridge, because anyone close to him would have known that Tony was misspelled.
That Sailer headstamp does look like a BELL / Wirth product.
So it seems a new one to me, to look for.
This “Tony Sailer” was Anthony F. Sailer (1926-2015), a custom ammunition and bullet manufacturer that was first located in Marenisco, Michigan and later moved to Owen, Wisconsin. He was a case forming specialist and offered many obsolete calibers, including European metrics and wildcats. Also worked for C-H- Tool & Die Corporation.
