wish I was going!

Have a GREAT show !

#3

Love to have you out. Maybe for the 25th!

#4

Unfortunately the show is over, but the new venue worked out great! Lots of room and lights, great facility, and a bunch of friendly, helpful firemen. I think we will be there for at least the next few shows, especially next year, OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW!!!
Pics will follow soon, but we had a bunch of walk-ins, and some brought real treasures. Some rimfire guys were all excited about a box of lead-free target loads that made the rounds, Randy Walti scored a rare .50/20mm(?) Gerlich cartridge, and a couple of us almost went to war over a beautiful collection of 8mm and 11mm Muratas that appeared. Don’t worry, it ended amicably and we were all (very) happy in the end.
Can’t wait for next year!

More Johnny More! Please

#6

Jon, is maybe an image available of that .50/20mm Gerlich?

#7

Yes. As soon as I get it I’ll post.

#8

Is Randy laughing in the picture because of that .50/20mm round?

#9

some good memories coming back from last years visit !!!

cheers
René

#10

Randy’s Gerlich.

#11

Thanks!!!

Is that now a .50 case?

#12

Alex, that’s a .656-.50 based on the Cal. .50 T1 case made by FA in 1938. Amazing find!

#13

Fede, thanks! So the caliber here is .656?
And the .50 T1 case is the 12.7x99 or something else?

What is the hs on this one?

#14

Forgot: what is the case length of this cartridge?

#15

Alex, the .50 T1 case length is 110 mm and that of the .656-.50 also measures 110 mm. Headstamp is CAL 50 FA 38.

Edit: Case length corrected.

#16

Fede, thanks again! How did they enlongate the case? Or did they use unfinished T1 draw stages which were somewhat longer?

#17

Alex, sorry, I confused this case with a different T1 case from the 1920’s. This later T1 measures 110 mm, so they only expanded the neck.

#18

Just heard from Randy. The case is 17x110, and the h/s is FA 38 CAL 50, as Fede mentioned. Shown below next to a standard 12.7x99 BMG round.

Jon, thanks for the image, good to have a comparison.

I have also a .656/50 with the CAL 50 FA 38 Headstamp.
