These were special adapters that seated in the revolver’s cylinder and used a traditional cap and ball in a pinfire revolver.
The soldier would often use the ejector rod to push the ball into the chamber at the front of the cylinder, not down the barrel. Then they would cap i and go onto the next in the cylinder. This was able to be reused as many times as necessary until the owner acquired more pinfire cartridges.
