Primer, bullet and ring annulus on 7.92 Mauser ctges

#1

i have read somewhere the use of alcohol in an old post the way to determine if such annulus has been added by somebody on 7.92 ctges.
(people very often add such colored rings on their ctges, even in their own collection to have all the variations !!)
could you explain please
Thanks

The round with the mentioned head stamp P154 S* 7 39 is a B. Patrone.

Denatured Alcohol will remove just about anything except the chemical blackening on say German B-Patronen rounds or S.m.K.H. rounds. 70%, not greater than, Isopropyl Alcohol is what you want to test on German 7.9 rounds to see if the -V- band, Trop seal or primer annulus is fake. It will remove fake colors but not harm the German 7.9 factory die/sealant. If you are a 7.9 German collector at an opportunity event, it is good to carry tiny squeeze dropper bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol and a couple of Q-Tips on your person. Explain what you would like to do and if the seller refuses, they are either overly skeptical or well aware.
