Rem-UMC lot numbers?

#1

I’ve been buying current production Rem-UMC .223 Rem ammunition lately from a couple of different local sporting goods stores. Every time I pick up a few new boxes, they have different lot numbers from the last time and sometimes even different from each other from the same batch on the shelf.
Does anyone know how to translate the lot numbers? How big is a lot? I’m thinking that with the proliferation of lot numbers, that either the lots are small or the lot numbers correspond with a shift or a day’s production. What do you think Remington’s capacity to produce .223 is in a day’s time?

A sampling of recent lot numbers:

D17JB05
D25VAI
D25VCI
D11VAI
D04HC05
D22HAI
D28HC06
D14FC05

These lot numbers do not seem to indicate which type of packaging, such as
20, 50 or 200 rd boxes.

Any thoughts?

I don’t know anything about their codes, but if no one here can help, you can always e-mail Remington on their website. They are excellent at answering questions by e-mailing back.
