S&B 22lr box P overstamp?

#1

Picked up this box the other day. Date stamped 1959 on the bottom but what does the P overstamp mean?

#2

Have no idea what the P means, but interesting that they kept a tiny bit of pre-1945 factory history in the headstamp SB.
I shoot only SK Pistol Match in my Pardini these days :-) -Same factory.
Soren (sorry for highjacking the thread)

Have been thinking maybe P for pistol?
I have been putting some of the words through a translator -
kleinkaliberbuchsen = small-bore liners
einzelladerpistolen = single shot pistols
sprengstoffwerk = explosives factory
VEB = ‘peoples cooperative’ dredged that up from the archives on here
rauchlos = came up with some weird words but i guess ‘smokeless’

Small-bore rifles would be more correct

einzelladerpistolen = single shot pistols
sprengstoffwerk = explosives factory
VEB = ‘peoples cooperative’ dredged that up from the archives on here

VolksEigenes Betrieb = People-owned works(?) As much of that communist nonsense it’s almost untranslatable. Peoples’ co-op sounds right.

They still make ammo meant for pistols, the powder used is slightly faster burning than what is in the rifle cartridges, I have been told.
