- For long time storage (10 - 15 years or even longer) would it be better the shell (cartridge) case to be made of brass than steel ??? I noticed fired 7.92 x 57 steel cases made during the WW2 years (German) and during the early 1950s (Czech) having rust inside. Those 7.92 x 57 steel cases were just fired and rust was visible inside, the 7.92 x 57 steel cases had not been fired years before the examination. What do you think ???
Thanks in advance for any reply, Liviu 08/23/12
Corrosive priming will attack steel cases causing them to rust. Not so with brass cases.
